Now is the winter of our discontent
As I mentioned in the last post and in this one back in January, the folks back in the UK are currently enduring their worst winter for many a year. Melanie has just had her third snow day in quick succession and my friend Barry's school was closed for four days last week; to put the severity of the motherland's plight into context, up here in the sub-Arctic we've only had one half day off due to the weather all school year.
Now, for the benefit of those of you living outside of the British Isles, I thought I'd post a couple of pictures, courtesy of Melanie and my mum, to show you the type of conditions that have brought a nation of sixty million to its knees:
Just keep going, Britain. Stay strong, and very soon there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Our thoughts are with you.

Ah, well. It was the worst snow in 19 years! And we managed to get to work EVERY DAY! The media did rather focus on the winghers complaining that they would HAVE to take another day off work. What they did not tend to report was how we all helped each other out; clearing snow, pushing cars out of driveways and sharing out surreptiously acquired bags of salt. One local supermarket manager was out delivering groceries to house bound customers. The children had a great couple of days learning about how bloody cold fingers can get when you are snowballing, how to building snowmen, how to knock down snowmen, that the steeper hill the bigger the thrill! Chill out! (but not down to -25!) PC
Very commendable to see that you got into work every day; I would expect nothing less! My students here have told me that they would love to come and see you all in England, just as soon as they've rooted out their T-shirts and shorts!
Eamo its about time we got in touch again. I have the same email address so you should hopefully have it. I do enjoy reading your little comments its almost like being back in the staff room at MK prep all thats missing is Peter and Hughs asides! Love to Mel and Josh. Kevin
